    PUCO to Lift Stay on FirstEnergy/HB6 Investigations

    Investigations to Resume

    COLUMBUS, OHIO (Feb. 21, 2024) - The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) today ordered its four investigations related to FirstEnergy and House Bill 6 to resume. The cases have been stayed since Aug. 24, 2022, at the request of the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Ohio. The stay will expire on Friday, February 23, 2024.

     

    “We remain committed to protecting the interests of Ohio’s consumers,” stated PUCO Chair Jenifer French. “The PUCO will continue to follow the facts wherever they may lead.”

    A PUCO administrative law judge will issue an entry in the coming days to establish hearing dates for these proceedings, including a due date for the ongoing audit of the utility’s rates related to political and charitable expenses.
